You may have heard the rumors and while it seems nothing is carved in stone just yet, the Pioneer Press reports on the progress Town Hall is making toward a location in St. Paul.
President Obama has his town halls. Now, St. Paul may get a Town Hall, too, and ours comes with lots of great beer.
It has been a long process, but Peter Rifakes says he’s thisclose to opening a Town Hall Brewery in Minnesota’s capital city. He won’t give the exact location, but says he’s negotiating for a space in downtown St. Paul and that it’s not in Lowertown. Rifakes, who has wanted to open in St. Paul for some time, once considered the Lowertown space now occupied by Barrio.
Just like his Town Hall Brewery on Washington Avenue near the University of Minne-sota, the St. Paul location would feature a large selection of house-made beers and a menu of burgers, fish and chips, pasta and steak.
Rifakes says it will be a couple of weeks before details are final. “Nothing,” he says, “is 100 percent certain in this world.”
It would be pretty sweet to have two brewpubs within walking distance in downtown.
Sweet…now I’ll never have to cross the river again.
Just as long as they don’t move growler sales…
“President Obama has his town halls”
Someone needs to brush up on their cockney rhyming slang, know what I mean me ol’ china?
Ron: Agreed. Keep the growler sales in Minneapolis.
I would prefer a Lowertown location, in order to build a nucleus of bars around Mears Park (Bulldog, Barrio). I guess if it’s up by Great Waters or over by McGovern’s, that would be OK, just so it’s not off by itself somewhere.
is there any reason they couldn’t have growler sales in both locations?
Lunch breaks will never be the same.
Kai: Yes. Under current MN law they can only sell off-sale growlers at one location. That’s why Herkimer no longer offers growlers as they have chosen to sell 750ml bottles of sake at Moto-i instead.
oooh., if I couldn’t get Town Hall growlers anymore….urrr…arrgh…I don’t know what I’d do!
Except Moto isn’t doing off-sale either.
Doesnt Moto i sell 750s of Sake anymore…if they still do that would be considered offsale.
Last I heard they couldn’t make enough sake to bottle. They underestimated the amount they are selling in the restaurant. Which is a good problem to have I guess.
Moto hasn’t sold a single bottle for off-sale consumption.
Im guessing they could skirt this issue if they put the st. paul TH in someone elses name….
Trav: I have a business I’d like to put in your name. I get all the profit/benefits and you get stuck with the consequences should something happen the business as it’s in your name.
Ill take those consequences if it cuts my TH growler run by 10 miles!
