Line Them Up & Knock Them Back – Brau Bros.

braubrothers.jpgBrau Brothers Brewing has announced their Autumn Brew Review line-up in their latest newsletter, which I’ve included for your consumption.  I’m excited about the line-up…especially the Fresh Hop.  Yay Beer!  By the way, I did cut a bit out of the newsletter to shorten in up.

Hey Everyone,
Just a quick note to update you on brewery happenings.

We are continuing to harvest hops, about 10-20 lbs every few days. We had really good success with Centennial, Willamette, Cascade, Nugget, and Sterling. We harvested some from each of the other 6 varieties in the hopyard, but only enough to play with. We also successfully tested a malting setup. I’d like to scale it up a bit to make it practical for us in larger volume.

Twin City Braus – Megan will be at The Four Firkins in St. Louis Park on Monday September 15 sampling Brau Beer. If you have never tried it (or even if you have) and will be in the area, stop in and say hi. She is terrific at answering questions and talking all things beer.

Sept 27 we will be at the Autumn Brew Review in Minneapolis. Here’s our lineup:

Cask-Conditioned Whirly Bird Oatmeal Stout
Big and bold, even for an oatmeal stout, this ale is chewy and complex. A variety of oats, toasted at different levels make up a full ten percent of the malt bill. Add to that roasted barley, crystal malt, and chocolate malt for a well-rounded stout. This ale is a remake of an oatmeal stout served years ago at the tiny local pub in Lucan.

Ring Neck Double Nut Braun Ale
Ring Neck Braun Ale is the initial offering in the Brau Single Batch Series of beers. A perfect autumn ale, this big double nut brown ale is dry and fruity, yet surprisingly drinkable. Nutty flavor is derived from both biscuit malt and toasted oats. A hint of raspberry and classic British hops round out this mild and complex brown ale.

Brau Brothers Fresh Hop Ale
These hops are fresh-picked and never dried. Right from the vine to the brew kettle, we have incorporated Nugget, Centennial, and Willamette hops for a unique blend and an extremely fresh flavor. Vienna Malt makes up the bulk of the grist bill which provides a clean, yet full-bodied balance to our very own hops.

Strawberry Wheat
Brau Brothers Strawberry Wheat is a combination of traditional American wheat ale and fruit ale. Subdued hop flavor and aroma give way to pronounced strawberry notes. Wheat malt constitutes 50% of the malt bill and lends trademark sweetness that rounds out the beer. Top this off with just a hint of vanilla and we have brewed a truly unique and flavorful ale!

The first batches of Ring Neck Braun Ale are finishing up and taste terrific! Look for release in Mid-October, perfect time of the year for a big, brown ale. I’ve included a flyer for it, with all the juicy details.

Take care,

Dustin
