Apparently, Catherine over at the Happy Gnome has been squirreling away a keg here and a keg there of some of your favorite beers from Founder’s. And now is the time to tap em!
Hohenstein’s will be on hand next Tuesday as the Gnome taps:
- 2009 Backwoods Bastard
- 2010 Imperial Stout
- 2011 Kentucky Breakfast Stout
- 2009 and 2010 Nemesis
- 2009 Old Curmudgeon
This has nothing to do with Founders or the Gnome, but it is relevant in that the listed Founders beers are all big and the link has to do with some misperceptions regarding craft beer.

Straw man?
The “misperception” might be in thinking that folks who ascribe sentiments such as “like” to a product which they enjoy for its many dimensions (lack of notable flaws being only one of many, character and passion of the brewer may be another) are somehow wrong or foolish. We can talk about it and disagree or agree, but the exercise is really only academic because when it comes to opinions on what we favor, there often no incontrovertible factors and thus no absolute correct answer. Smacks of building a mountain from which one can preach on a foundation that is a flawed premise.
Ohh, and I say that because I assume that’s really where you were going with your post, BeerFan. That’s kind of the same tune you always play.
You know what they say about assumptions.
Are you referring to the Bertrand Russell quote, “”Whenever possible, substitute constructions out of known entities for inferences to unknown entities?”
Insert Philosophers Song here.
My favorite quote about this little piece, “It’s like reading Beer Advocate out loud.”
heh heh, true dat
Fletty or BeerFan, has been itching to post that link somewhere here all day I’m sure. He also sent it out to the homebrew mailing lists. OMG MOST CLEVER THING EVER! Let me know when they make one about the pretentiousness and elitist attitudes of Fletty and many of the SPHBC members.
Why is the behavior and lack of knowledge of many on BA so surprising to some? It’s just like when people start out in any hobby be it beer or cars. Those new to it don’t know a lot, ask lots of questions, make lots of assumptions that are usually wrong, etc. Doesn’t mean I put any time into going on car forums and telling newbies there that their ideas for a designing their own turbo setup is ridiculous.
Hi Ben-
Buy a vowel or clue or sense of humor if you can afford one. Or maybe you’ve got all your cash tied up is session RIS? How’s that working out?
Personally, Eva and I like a nice Berliner Weisse. Anyhoo, back to the bunker.

Really, Fletty? Do you think posting as Hitler is going to do much for your reputation?
