From the White House to Your House!

Homebrewing has reached the White House! For the first time ever, homebrewing is happening on a regular basis at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Regardless of your politics, if you’re a homebrewer or ever thought about homebrewing – that’s saying a lot about the hobby that 35 years ago was still illegal in our country.

A few days ago (and after much popular demand), the White House released two of its recipes to the public – a Honey Ale and Honey Porter. Now you can brew these White House Ales in your own home using recipe kits exclusively from Northern Brewer.

All-Grain Brewing with John Palmer @ NB MPLS

This is one is for the homebrewers AND anyone that thinks they’d like to get into all-grain brewing.“How to Brew” author John Palmer stops by Northern Brewer Minneapolis to brew an all-grain batch of a very special recipe. In this Northern Brewer video, Palmer discusses his techniques for adding salts to brew water, mashing, batch sparging (versus fly sparging), chilling and fermentation. It’s a full-blown brew day with one of homebrewing’s most influential people. Grab a pint and enjoy the show.

We already have more entries than last years, so we could also use more judges and stewards to help out at the contest.  The judging will be onsite at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival on Saturday, August 25 & Sunday, August 26.  You get into the Fest for free on the day you help out and we make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy the sights.  We welcome judges of all skill levels and will pair inexperienced judges with those who have BJCP rank.  This contest is registered with the AHA/BJCP.
