Northern Brewer coming to Minneapolis Fall 2011

Northern Brewer is expanding again… to Minneapolis.

Northern Brewer Mpls

“For 18 years, Northern Brewer’s goal has been to foster the enjoyment of brewing, drinking, and sharing great beer, so we are very excited to announce Northern Brewer Minneapolis, opening Fall 2011. NB St. Paul will always be the heart of our company; NB Milwaukee will always be our second home; and our new flagship at 6021 Lyndale will become the template for all our future retail stores and will serve as a blueprint for bringing the Northern Brewer experience in person to more communities in the years to come. Cheers”

Brewing TV #38: None More Cask

Cask ale at home!? Mike and Jake from Brewing TV take what they learned about cask-conditioning ales from Damian McConn (Summit Brewing Company) and use it to make their own cask version of a Oatmeal Stout. Join the guys as they learn the steps to a great firkinfied homebrew, get jiggy with double espresso shots, and drink the finished cask ale with some work buddies. You’ll find there’s None More Cask. Blam!

Brewing TV Premiere Party at Stanley’s

Looking for some cask action? Here it is! Brewing TV will premiere their latest episode “Brewing TV – Episode 38: None More Cask” Thursday, June 2nd at Stanley’s in Minneapolis. The episode follows the homebrewing hosts as they prepare and serve a cask version of a homebrewed oatmeal stout. During the party, which runs from 9-11 p.m., Stanley’s will tap a firkin of Summit Horizon Red and also play an encore presentation of “Brewing TV – Episode 36: Gone Firkin,” in which the BTV boys learn straight from Summit’s cask guru Damian McConn how to prepare and present cask ales. Join Brewing TV for some cask beer, a couple of fun episodes and some good times.

Brewing TV #37: Happiness is a Warm Carboy

New episode from our buddies at Brewing TV. We’re heading back to Chip’s homebrewery for a brew session and warm fermentation experiment. He’s joined by fellow homebrewer Don Osborn for some discussion and tasting notes. Then Jake & Mike sit down with the kellerbier version of the double decocotion dunkel from a few episodes back. And a Sing-along? Awwhh yeah.

National Homebrew Day Big Brews

Check it out. Northern Brewer is brewing Town Hall’s Hope & King Scotch Ale as a Big Brew for National Homebrew Day

As a friendly reminder, Northern Brewer Saint Paul will be joining the American Homebrewer’s Association in celebrating National Homebrew Day by taking part in this year’s Big Brew.  Feel free to stop by Northern Brewer any time after we open at 10AM – we expect to be wrapping up by 4PM.

In more recent news; we have decided to collaborate with a twin cities’ favorite, The Town Hall Brewery and Tap.  For this year’s big brew session we’ll be breaking out one of Northern Brewer’s Pro Series, a collaborative line of commercial recipes for the homebrewer.  We will be brewing the Town Hall’s Hope and King Scotch Ale along with a brewer from The Town Hall.

Don’t miss this opportunity to join with two Twin Cities’ favorites and talk beer all day long on the day that our Nation joins together to celebrate beer, and brewing it at home!

We hope to see you this Saturday, but in the unfortunate event that you’re not able to join us here at the Brew Shop, don’t forget to take a moment at Noon to raise a toast to beer and Homebrewing.  You’ll be joining hundreds of thousands of American Homebrewers.

Cheers!

Minnesota Home Brewers Association will also be brewing IPA in Minnetonka.

This year’s MHBA Big Brew meeting will be held on Saturday, May 7th from 10am to 4pm at a warehouse in Minnetonka which may be the future home of a new brewery here in Minnesota. The address is: 6020 Culligan Way, Minnetonka MN 55345.

We are gong to take a new direction with Big Brew this year.  Our focus will be learning about single hop varieties in IPA’s which include bitterness, flavor, and aroma. We, as a club, will be brewing an IPA with extract and specialty grains.
