FFF at Thomas: Abita

Hoooo, I never get tired of posting “FFF” and having folks think we’re talking about that brewery from Indiana…

No, we’re talking about Fitty’s First Friday at Thomas Liquors, when chief beer guy Fitty opens some beers for you all to try. This Friday kicks off the summer season with Abita for the June installment of FFF.   They’ll be tasting five vastly different offerings from the folks who are known for their benevolence as much as their quality.  See ya there!

Lucky Bucket at Thomas Liquors

Join Fitty and native Minnesotan and brew master Zac Triemert for the first ever tasting of Lucky Bucket in the state of Minnesota.  Zac will be tasting out their flagship Pre-Prohibition Lager, IPA, and the mega-complex Certified Evil Stout.  The first shipment to Minnesota is scheduled to arrive on Thursday and they’ll have it at the store to sample at 3:30.  Now that’s fresh!

Blessing of the Maibock at Town Hall

With Spring comes Mother’s Day, fishing opener and of course, Maibock!

Morning,

We are coming up on the first Saturday in May which means one thing…….Maibock! For those of you unfamiliar- Maibock is a German Lager that is generally released in spring. It is the Blond Bock, expect a nice medium to heavy body with a crisp finish. We used only the finest German malts to create this lager beer and it is well aged. This beer is nearly 3 months in process!

Each year we feature a Blessing of the Maibock celebration. Call it what you will…I like to think we are celebrating that we made it through another winter and that we made it to summer.

Here are the stats-

This coming Saturday 5/7 Maibock will be released at 5pm. We will fill your glass beginning at 5pm and hope to have everyone filled by 5:15. At 5:15 Father Aaron will perform the official Blessing and then we will continue to fill your glasses until 6pm. 5-6pm is complimentary Maibock because we love you guys. Please do not consume your first glass until the official toast at the conclusion of the Blessing.

This is always a very fun celebration, see you Saturday.

****Pint club**** There will be no pint club reception on 5/7 (no free beer from 4-5).

Prosit!

(Back to that whole Mother’s Day thing, make sure you at least pick up a card for her.)

New Brewery Offers Epic Tasting

Maybe you’ve seen the twitter tease, the BA banter, well here’s the deal about the new brewery entering Minnesota.

Tomorrow night at the Ale Jail, directly after the Alaskan tasting (5pm – 7pm), Epic Brewing Co. from Salt Lake City, UT brings their wares to the Ale Jail. This will be the first tasting of this beer in the state and the owner of the company is flying into the Twin Cities with the bombers on the plane with him! I had never even heard of them, and am pretty excited about their entrance.

As soon as the Alaskan beers are drained, the Epic beers will roll out–but only for 45 minutes, from 7:15 – 8pm. Not only is the time frame short, but the list is, well, epic:

Intermountain Wheat
Capt’n Crompton’s Pale Ale
Cross Fever Amber Ale
Galloway Porter
Spiral Jetty IPA
Pfeifferhorn Lager
Copper Cone Pale Ale (Bronze Medal, SDIBF)
