I’ll be in the Park Rapids/Walker area next week, leaving the care of MNBeer.com up to Eric, Jeff, Mag & Kris. Please treat them well. 🙂
More importantly, I need a good deal on 12-packs of Summit & Schell’s. Suggestions? I’m craving local hefeweizen and don’t feel like paying the “up north”/municipal liquor store premiums.
Saturday was a special day in St. Louis Park. The Four Firkins held its Grand Opening Party with a little help from friends at Brau Brothers, August Schell, Summit, Surly & Flat Earth. I attempted to help from about 5pm onward and the place was constantly busy all night.
It was also a special evening for the PedalPub, as Saturday marked its maiden voyage with beer on public roads. I took a ride with some excited pedalers and totally forgot to bring a beer! It was still a lot of fun!
It’s a good week for beer…
“Twin Cities Finally Gets a Craft Beer Store” by Tom Horgen
Jason Alvey remembers exactly where he was when he fell in love with craft beer. It was 2001, he had moved here from Australia and he was at the Uptown Pizza Luce when someone bought a pitcher of Summit Extra Pale Ale. “It’s been a slippery spiral ever since,” he said.
The first “Beer Evangelist” class will take place on June 20th at 8pm at The Four Firkins. The class will be taught by Josh Pepper, a certified BJCP beer judge. Josh also teaches classes at Surdyk’s and Cooks of Crocus Hill. To sign up email alvey AT thefourfirkins.com. Space is limited, so act quickly! The class costs $5, and you’ll receive a $5 coupon to spend at the store that night. Free shirts too!
