Bent Paddle is Coming to the Twin Cities

Starting Wednesday, Duluth’s Bent Paddle Brewing Co. will be distributing their beer to thirsty Twin Cities imbibers on a regular basis. Look for Venture Pils, Bent Hop and Black Ale at The Ale Jail, Elevated, North Loop Wine & Spirits, Stinson Wine Beer & Spirits and The Four Firkins.

As production increases, no doubt you’ll see their beers at other venues as well. In December, the brewery will add three new 90bbl fermenters and a 120 bbl brite tank, bringing their capacity up to 8000+ barrels a year.

 

To Catch a (Barrel/Flowerpot) Thief

I’d like to see these thieves get busted. Perhaps the power of the interwebs can lend a hand. First offender? An older-looking woman stole potted plants from Lift Bridge Brewery. Buy your own damn plants! This person arrived early in the morning on the 15th with a white GMC/Chevy pick-up. You can check out security video on Lift Bridge’s Facebook page.

Second offender? Sadly no footage, but some jerkwater stole a wine barrel from The Four Firkins. Lame. Below is a photo to give you an idea what that particular barrel looked like. Wouldn’t it be cool to see these items returned to our brewery and beer store friends?

Beermuda Triangle

Midwest Supplies, The Four Firkins and Steel Toe Brewing are teaming up again for another round of The Beermuda Triangle, a walk/bike-friendly beer tour around St. Louis Park that benefit’s St. Louis Park’s local food shelf (and more), the St. Louis Park Emergency Program (STEP).

As a 13-year resident of St. Louis Park, I can’t say enough about the good things that STEP does for people in need in this community as well as their work to mobilize the community to lend a hand and/or donate. So combining a great beer store, a great brewery and a great homebrew shop only amplifies things in my mind…

…but I digress. For $30, you get a Beermuda triangle t-shirt, a pint of beer at Steel Toe and a number of other goodies, like specials on recipe kits from Midwest, trivia and giveaways.
