All Pints North!

all pints northHey. Hey you! Yeah, you. Come to Duluth with us. We’re going to have an excellent time and enjoy some great beers with great people, all with the largest of the Great Lakes in the background. Does that sound good to you?

Tickets are still available for next weekend’s All Pints North festival, brought to you by the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild. Over the last couple of years, this has become one of my favorite festivals and I’ve made it a point to spend the weekend in Duluth to take in the beer scene and the scenery. I love Duluth.

Whaddya’ say? Tons of breweries, great food, music, beer education, Duluth…

If you’re around on Friday evening, check out the Duluth debut of “Crafted to Last,” or just head out to Canal Park or Superior Street for lots of local beer and other refinements.

Hopped Up Caribou Beer Festival

BeerShot

Would you like to get away this summer? If you’re like me, I’m ready to shake loose of the city and head north for some great beer with fun people in a super-relaxed environment. Here’s one option – the Hopped Up Caribou Beer Festival at Caribou Highlands in Lutsen, July 11-13th. Minnesota’s northernmost beer festival (92 miles north of Duluth) is almost more of a retreat than your regular festival, complete with time at a nice resort, plenty of facetime with brewers and some awesome food. As an example, the menu for the opening reception ncludes Stout Drenched Oysters, Rosemary-Kölsch Shrimp Skewers, and Hefeweizen Banana Bread among other things. The brewer’s breakfast is impressive as well: Duck Sausage Frittata, Brewer’s Bloody Mary bar…

Breweries include: Surly, Boathouse, Fitger’s Brewhouse, Minneapolis Town Hall, Summit, Schell’s, Lake Superior, St. Croix, Castle Danger, Carmody, Third Street, Bent Paddle, South Shore and Bell’s.

Chop & Brew #23: Music City Brew Off

Chop & Brew takes a roadtrip from the Twin Cities to Nashville, TN for the Music City Brew Off homebrew competition. In this episode, we get an inside look at the inner-workings of the homebrew competition hosted by the Music City Brewers homebrew club. MCB president John Malone shares his experiences and gives some advice to other clubs that may be interested in coordinating a competition of their own. C&B is also hoping to get involved in the MN State Fair homebrew competition and next winter’s Upper Mississippi Mash Out as well.
