All-Grain Brewing with John Palmer @ NB MPLS

This is one is for the homebrewers AND anyone that thinks they’d like to get into all-grain brewing.“How to Brew” author John Palmer stops by Northern Brewer Minneapolis to brew an all-grain batch of a very special recipe. In this Northern Brewer video, Palmer discusses his techniques for adding salts to brew water, mashing, batch sparging (versus fly sparging), chilling and fermentation. It’s a full-blown brew day with one of homebrewing’s most influential people. Grab a pint and enjoy the show.

BETTER BEER SOCIETY UNIVERSITY NOW ENROLLING

Let the kids have their new shoes and notebooks. Let the college kids have their hacky-sacks and their all-nighters (wait, I still enjoy an all-nighter, too!). This here is school for beer lovers! Over the past couple of years, local Twin Cities beer fans have been educated and entertained by local and nationally-known brewers at MSP Beer School. Beer School is now Better Beer Society University and classes for the upcoming semester begin on September 19th at Republic with new local brewery Indeed Brewing Company. This semester will also include presentations based on beer styles, beer ingredients, and the beer industry in general.

There is also a new professor on the scene, Jake Keeler. Believe me, this dude’s a real hard-ass if you’re tardy. But who would be late to amazing beer and great insider information from the craft beer world? Keeler knows his beer — as does Better Beer Society’s founder and event organizer Rob Shellman — so expect awesome guests, great lessons, and good times. The class can only accept 125 students, so get on the list. (This semester’s tuition includes some extra goodies for your bedazzled backpack.) See THIS LINK for more information and to register. Class is about to be in session!
