What Is Brau Bros. Up To for Craft Beer Week, You Ask?

Well, Dustin of Brau Bros. Brewing has the answer.

Finishing up Craft Beer Week strong, I’ll be rubbing elbows with city folk all weekend. This is a great week to intro the Black Sheep. It’s like a Black and Tan with flavor. It’s like drinking from two fermenters at once. It’s like – you get the picture.

Tonight I’ll be at Common Roots from 7-9pm and they’ll be helping pour pints. These guys don’t get enough credit for the extra time and effort that goes into sourcing local ingredients and products. Make sure if you’re anywhere near, stop in and talk beer, brewing, barley & hops, whatever crosses your mind.

Tomorrow evening I’ll be at Pairings in Minnetonka from 4-7pm out on the patio. Great opportunity to stop out and visit, take advantage of the nice weekend weather, and start the summer beer drinking off right!

Also, there’s a rumor that Doug Hoverson will be out for BrauFest. He’s speaking at the Public Library on Saturday, June 5 in Marshall, MN. For those not taking part in the bike ride that afternoon, maybe a carpool over to hear Doug speak? Since the train takes him right through Lucan, I’m hoping he’ll jump off the back and join us. Maybe Friday night around the campfire he’ll put a flashlight under his face and tell scary stories about when all the local breweries closed…

Just a reminder, BrauFest is June 4-5 in Lucan.

For now, that is all.

Brau Bros. – Making Hairy Chests Hairier Since 2007

Here’s an update from Dustin Brau of Brau Brothers Brewing Co.  As usual, I’ve edited Dustin’s e-mail a bit from the original (e.g. cut out reference to an attached flyer).

The details for BrauFest are about set.  I’m guessing they’ll be totally finalized somewhere around June 2nd.  Camping space WILL be available right next to the brewery for Friday and Saturday night.  We’ll bonfire on Friday night, bring your homebrew to pass around.  We’re hoping for better weather than last year, shouldn’t be too difficult.

This year we’re adding a bike ride from the brewery to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Dugout Site just north of Walnut Grove.  We’ll pack a lunch for everyone, provide a Sag Wagon, and everyone that completes the trek gets a t-shirt and a pint on us!  Email Mary (mary at braubeer dot com) to sign up.

Ken and Barbie at the BrauHaus have a terrific band playing Saturday Night outside under the lights near Main Street!  Hicktown Mafia is a great local band and we’re excited to show them off.

I’ve got some casks filled for the weekend, and we’ll preview a couple new beers that weekend.

Also – if you haven’t already, make sure you check out The Perennial Plate’s neat story on Lucan, and the cool people who inhabit it.

Daniel was brave enough to make the trip out to the prairie, and we can’t thank him enough for putting the spotlight on us.

Finally, we’ve got a couple new beers coming out soon.  Sorry it’s been so long, we’ve been extremely busy here just trying to keep up with the regulars.  Thanks everyone for supporting our small brewery!!!

Take care,

Dustin

Surly-a-Whirl

Surly Brewing will be pouring beer from their Surly Draft Trailer at Art-A-Whirl this Saturday, from nooner until 8 P.M.  Like art but don’t like beer?  You’ll be okay.  Like beer but don’t like art?  You’ll be okay.  Like beer and art?  You’ll be delighted.  Don’t like beer and don’t like art?  Who the hell are you, Kim Jong-Il?
