Ok, so how many of you have been sitting there saying “Hey, I wonder what Bill at Princeton’s Liquors is doing right at this moment? I AM GONNA TWEET!!!!!!! Finally your opportunity to delve even deeper in to that world of Princeton’s Liquors.

First Snowstorm of 2009 on Radar

Schell’s just posted on their Facebook page that the 2009 Snowstorm will be a Baltic Porter. Dave Berg sent us a few more details about this beer, so we thought we’d share:

Snowstorm 2009

OG 17.5 Plato
IBU 31
SRM 63

Beer writer Lew Bryson referred to Baltic Porters  as “a trainwreck between a Dopplebock and an Imperial Stout.”  If the shoe fits…

Copious amounts of Munich malt coupled with 3 British crystal malts, British Chocolate, and some other stuff, Snowstorm 2009 displays flavor reminiscent of dark fruit, licorice, and chocolate.

Release Date:  Nov 1, 2009

With love from your friends at “the website that shall not be named” (?!)

Check out Abetto’s

On a whim I stopped in this little liquor store on Como just east of Dale in St. Paul called Abetto’s.  Very nice craft beer selection, plus build-your-own 6ers with a 10% discount (which I have been missing since Cellars on Larpenteur closed). Who woulda thunk?

Anywho, just a shout-out here for a lesser-known liquor store with a fine beer selection! Cheers to you Abetto’s!

Muddy Pig Belgian Beer Fest Seminar: Fermentable Love Fest

Domestic Belgians, Belgian Belgians, cheese and Corey.

“Fermentable Love Fest” with Corey Shovein of Hohenstein Distributors.  Now this sounds like a fun time.  Belgian beers are not confined to a single style nor are they confined to Belgium.  There are some American and Canadian brewers making incredible Belgian-style beers as well.  As Corey surveys the various styles he will provide samples from a Belgian brewer and a domestic brewer and include a cheese that pairs well with the style.  Count me in.

Seminars are $20 each or all three for $50.  Tickets will be available at The Pig around 5pm Friday, Sept. 4th. Due to high demand (all seminars sold out last year) we are unable to “hold” tickets for people so plan on stopping by The Pig sooner rather than later to purchase yours.
