Pre ABR Events

When Corey at Hohensteins clarified to me that the “pile of stuff” he was sending to us was in fact a “$hitload” of events to post, we clearly underestimated the sheer volume of events. If you live near a bar or restaurant, it’s highly likely something is happening there in the days leading up to Autumn Beer Review this Saturday.

Whether a full fledged beer dinner or simply the tapping of a unique keg, you can find the full listing of events here.  Please note that some of the events on the MnBeer calendar are duplicative.

Look for the ABR  program, including tasting seminars and tours, to be posted soon.

Ale Jail Grand Opening

This is going to be quite an event at the Ale Jail, so be sure to check it out!

This Friday, October 1st is a day to put on your calendar. From 4 – 7, we’ll have a free tasting going on under tents in the back parking lot along with sliders being grilled (until they run out) by the good folks at the Blue Door Pub.

Wine fans can expect to taste through up to 30 wines from around the world, while beer fans won’t be disappointed either. Don’t believe me? Check out some of the breweries that will be represented (please note due to other events in town, brewery representatives will not be here for the entire time; they will be coming and going throughout the event):

  • Northwoods Brewing
  • Deschutes Brewery will be poured by head brewer Johnathan Abraham.
  • Central Waters
  • Odell Brewing Co
  • Mad River (just received 4 medals at GABF) will be poured by Dylan, Mad River’s Master Brewer
  • Dave’s Brew Farm (poured by Dave himself)
  • Left Hand (poured by Left Hand rep Mike Walters)
  • Victory Brewing (poured by Left Hand rep Cameron Russell)
  • Great Lakes (poured by Great Lakes rep Brent Rowe and Brewmaster Luke Purcell)
  • Two Brothers (poured by Two Brothers rep Christian Wicklund)
  • Tall Grass will be poured by Tallgrass brewery will be represented by Rob Shellman, certified Cicerone and new Minnesota brewery rep for the brewery
  • Plus, Lanny Hoff from Artisinal Imports will be pouring Belgians like Tripel Karmeliet, Pauwel Kwak, and St. Feuillien
  • Please come with good spirits and patience; based on past events we know it may be a bit crowded and may take longer than usual to ring you up. Also, please be prepared to show ID–even if you’re a regular customer. We will have multiple people providing samples and working the registers, so your understanding of this is greatly appreciated.

New Bell’s Beer Release @ the Gnome

Larry Bell will be joining The Happy Gnome on Sept 30 from 9-11pm to release three new beers:
Le Pianiste, Le Contrabassiste, Le Batteur, all inspired by the French Bier de Garde.

To celebrate, we will have a live jazz that night, and maybe Larry will join the band for a couple songs.  Come meet Larry and enjoy some new beers.

Please note that the Goose Island Tap Takeover has been moved to Oct. 12.
