The website for Minnesota Craft Beer Week is live, filled with events & info. Check it out now! It should be a fun week. I’ll be doing a little guest bartending on Wednesday with Flat Earth and on Friday with Surly. Cheers!

I’m curious to know the reason why there are only three participating bars. Were other brewpubs and bars asked to participate in this event?
I was wondering that as well. Would have thought joints like Blue Nile, Muddy Pig, Gnome, Busters etc would have joined the club. Why isnt a beer-centric store like Dennis Brothers included? At the least the 3 bars are all top notch.
Stub & Herb’s, Town Hall and Preston’s were working on this together. I’m guessing it wasn’t so much a matter of not inviting certain places to participate as much as it was probably a matter of getting the bars to work together on a project. Any time you try to bring together more than a few organizations (in quite possibly a short period of time), things get tricky as more players get involved. I would guess that it’ll grow into something larger and more diverse if it goes well this year.
I’m trying to recall if any places aside from Town Hall and Fitger’s have traditionally done anything in celebration of American Craft Beer Week… I know that Fitger’s brewed the “American Craft Beer Wheat” recipe this year for Craft Beer Week… Hmmm.
A couple years back they had those passport kinda things for American Craft Beer Week where you got a stamp at different bars and breweries.
Acadia and Barley Johns excluded?!?!#FAIL(i could walk 3 blocks over to town hall as a west banker but@ACADIA… 28 taps of the best craftbrews in the TC area? Not on the list?) …and Barley Johns has been kickin arse in the craftbrew dept for about a decade too-4/22/10 – Barley John’s was picked “Best Brew Pub” and “Best Suburban Bar” in this years Best of the Twin Cities Guide from City Pages!) I like the concept but craft brew is for people who thrive on quality and variety…someone needs help in the event organization dept…not mad but i am disappointed.
I’m just happy to see this happening!
I don’t see the #fail here. The Brewers Association (who came up with American Craft Beer Week) isn’t keeping any bars from doing Craft Beer Week events. Beer people in the Twin Cities are pretty good to one another for the most part so I would also guess that this isn’t a slight on bars that aren’t involved. It looks like two bars and a brewpub near campus banded together for events and promoted them together. Maybe you’re reading more into it than is actually there?

I guess I try.
Speaking of FAIL….
The event schedule says that MN Craft Beer Week already happened. All the dates in the schedule are listed as April.
D’oh!
Wasn’t there originally something called “American Craft Beer Month”*?
I’m looking forward to attending whatever I can fit into my schedule, but it looks like I’ll miss most of the events : /
* 3rd page of Google results — July 1999; Why do I even remember that far back?
@ryan
Keeping it initially small to keep it manageable makes sense. Hopefully it will be successful and grow.
Hello!
I am one of the people responsible for putting together MN Craft Beer Week.
It was not our intention to exclude any great bars, brewpubs and craft carrying liquor stores from beer week. We do hope that this event can grow from year to year. Hopefully, it will become something many of you look forward to every year like ABR, St. Paul Summer Beer Fest, Winterfest, etc. etc. We hope to include as many bars, brewpubs and liquor stores as possible in next years events.
Speaking of events to grow and look forward to year to year, anyone heard if Indulge will be held again? It was great last year!
