The weekend is in sight, the heat is showing no signs of abating so you must be thirsty, right? Here’s what you can pick up at Flat Earth to quench that thirst this afternoon.
Belgian Pale Ale
Black Helicopter Coffee Stout
Element 115 Lager
Unfiltered 115
Hep Cat Ale
Northwest Passage IPA
Sunburst Ale
Schells will be doing a sampling of their seasonal beers at The Freighthouse in Stillwater. This will be in the Cabooze (nightclub) portion of The Freighthouse. And since it will likely still be HOT, this might be a good time to check out the Minus5 Ice Lounge.
The new tanks are now installed and I have 3 fermentations already through them. This batch of Wild B is the first to inhabit the new territory, came through it quite nicely.
All of our pub brews are now back on tap and I will be releasing Rosies either today (6/24) or tomorrow (6/25).
Check us out at the St. Paul Summer Beer Fest this Sunday.
If you’ve been dragging you feet (or maybe you were out of town last weekend) about getting over to Great Waters to become one of the inaugural group of MBA - Masters of Beer Appreciation - you still have a wee bit of time. As of 6/24, they still have a few memberships available. Check out their site for all the details.
Can you believe another year has passed and it’s time to celebrate Al’s birthday again? Besides being a great bartender, he’s giving US gifts for his birthday. Check out the details.
Hey Gang,
Guess what? I’m throwing a party on my birthday again this year, and you’re getting the gift of some awesome beers on tap, some for the first time ever.
Aventinus Eisbock 2004. That’s right, the iced version of the amazing Schneider Aventinus Weizenbock, aged 5 years. This has never been on tap anywhere in MN, ever. I can’t wait to taste this one! It’s a 5 gallon keg, so come early if you want some!
Next, one of my favorite Baltic Porters of all time, from Finland, Sinebrychoff Porter. This is the first time it’s been available in kegs, and we will be the first place to tap it in the state!
And, I’m bringing out a keg of Bell’s Expedition. This one is not aged a year, unfortunately, only 8 months!
And, possibly some other special things, to remain secret.
And, a cask from Surly, no word on which one, yet.
The special beers will start flowing at 6pm. Hope to see you at the Blue Nile, Tuesday, June 30!
Update: The cask of Surly will be tea-bagged Furious.
If you’re going to the Dome for a Twins game, or some other reason, you’ve probably encountered the dilemma of how you’re going to survive amongst all those macros. Summit comes to your rescue with a handy dandy listing of all the places in the Dome where you can find them:
- All Papa John’s stations (sections 119, 204, 224)
- Sections 140, 207, 212, 229

Congrats to Lift Bridge for taking the Best Beer title at last Saturday’s Indulge event with their newest brew, Minnesota Tan! For those that haven’t tried it yet, it’s made with lingonberries and is a refreshing treat for the warm (ok, HOT) weather that is now upon us.
Keeping the honors within the state were John Henry from Cold Spring and Scotch Ale from Brau Brothers who tied for second.
This weekend the Beer Dabbler tour is hitting Sioux Falls. The beer tasting runs from 1-5 and there are events to follow. But hey, who cares what I say. I damn near sunk the whole program ’cause I’m an idiot. Anyway, head to the Beer Dabbler site for a listing of beers, sponsors, other tour dates/locales, etc. Now, if a Sioux Falls beer tasting doesn’t get you off your butt, let me spice this up a bit. MiniKiss will be providing the entertainment (I’m guessing after the beer tasting, but don’t know for sure). Yeah, that’s right. MiniKiss. Not to be mistaken with Tiny Kiss. This is the real deal, folks. If this beer tasting doesn’t yield stories that can be told for years, then I don’t know what would.
Summer’s here and according to quite a few publications, we’re supposed to have more time for reading. If those lists have left you wanting, maybe Randy Mosher’s new book “Tasting Beer: An Insider’s Guide to the World’s Greatest Drink” will do it for you. The book highlights some of our homegrown favorites. Flat Earth
