We are excited to announce the arrival of Tallgrass Brewing Company to the Twin Cities on Monday August 16th.  They will have three of their great craft beers available in the Twins Cities through the Original [...]

Summit Asks an Intriguing Question

Date May 27, 2010

So there I was, cruising down Hwy. 13 near the Rahr Malting facility when I drove by a Summit billboard ad.  It was a simple ad asking the question (and I paraphrase), “If Minnesota can have a state flower, why not a state beer?”  That got me to thinking.  Would I want to see a [...]

What’s Long and Tasty? No, Not That. Yes, Minnesota’s History of Beer!

Date March 2, 2010

Ted Marti, CEO of Schell’s, and Doug Hoverson, author of “Land of Amber Waters” were guests on MPR yesterday morning to discuss MN’s brewing history.  Thanks, Dave, for sending us the link.  It’d be nice if you’d send us some beer every now again, but the links, tips, etc. will suffice…I guess…for now.

Minneapolis/St. Paul Featured in Imbibe Magazine

Date December 29, 2009

I haven’t seen it yet, but Minneapolis/St. Paul was featured in an article in Imbibe Magazine about five up-and-coming beer scenes. Minneapolis/St. Paul is joined by Portland, Maine, Reno Nevada, Atlanta, Georgia and Austin, Texas. I’m looking forward to checking it out when I get a chance.

Beer & Babies

Date December 17, 2009

Thanks to all of the well-wishers. Dawn and I extremely excited that baby MNBeer (..er Laura) is finally here. We came home on Wednesday afternoon and I finally had a chance to kick back with a beer and it was good.

Beer, Bets and bas…er Football

Date October 5, 2009

The Star Tribune reports that Jim Doyle and Tim Pawlenty have a friendly wager over tonight’s little football game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers. Not surprisingly, the wager involves beer. The Strib doesn’t report what beers the losing governor might share, but we know that Minnesota did its homework! I got [...]

Strib Picks up the Twins Roof Deck Story…

Date June 3, 2009

…and the commenters want local beer! Surprise! It’s a pipe dream to think that some (maybe any…) of our local breweries could afford the same sort of sponsorship that Budweiser could take on, but on the same note, I tend to think that Budweiser cheapens Target Field a bit and distracts from the “uniquely Minnesota [...]

You wanted local craft beer at the new Twins stadium?

Date June 2, 2009

Hmm. Not sure if they’re listening. This doesn’t look terribly promising. Nothing says “ultimate Minnesota outdoor experience” like… uh… Budweiser?! Maybe not…
Target Field to feature Budweiser Roof Deck
This probably shouldn’t be looked upon as a final nail in the craft beer for having craft beer at the new stadium… Summit, Schell’s and Cold Spring lack [...]

The Beer Dabbler Events HAVE NOT Been Canceled

Date May 22, 2009

The Beer Dabbler events HAVE NOT, let me repeat HAVE NOT NOT NOT been canceled. Mag got scammed by an MNBeer.com comment by someone posting under the name “Matt Kenevan” saying that all of the events were canceled. This simply is not true and as a whole, MNBeer.com sincerely apologizes for any misunderstanding.
The Stillwater event, [...]
