Think your homebrew is worthy?

If so you might want to think about entering it in Samuel Adams 2008 American Homebrew Contest.

Here’s your chance to have your homebrew brewed, packaged and nationally distributed in the 2009 Samuel Adams LongShot package! It’s simple. Well, not really. You will have to brew a winning entry, send it in to face a panel of certified American Homebrew Association judges and beat out thousands of other entries. But no one ever said taking a shot at glory was easy!

Get yourself to samueladams.com to learn all the details including how much time you have to brew and ship it to us (less than you think!). You can even purchase homebrew supplies, watch the instructional “The Art of Homebrewing” video hosted by our own Jim Koch or become a member of the American Homebrewing Association. Here are some quick facts:

Submission Window: April 15 – May 1st, 2008

Prizes: Four finalists will be awarded a trip to attend the 2008 Great American Beer Festival® in Denver, CO where Samuel Adams will announce the winning recipe to be included in the 2009 LongShot six-pack.

Good luck!

Vine Park Update: Growlers, Trips

Vine ParkHere’s some info from Vine Park. Prague in Fall 08! Of course, lots more info at their site.

Quick Update! Last winter we predicted a Spring arrival for our growlers and then found we had a few more hurdles to clear. We have been working diligently with the City of St Paul and our path is looking very clear. As soon as we hit that finish line, we will drop you an email.

Beer and wine is a world industry and that means incredible variety for all of us to enjoy. Today we are announcing a wine from South Africa, adding to wines we have from Chile, Australia, France, Italy and even California.

We have decided to offer trips to the Czech Republic, Ireland, the Alsace region of France, and have considered the possibility of trips to Argentina, Belgium, and even the Pacific Northwest. All of these places offer unique cultures and beverages that have spread across the world.

Stub & Herbs beer tastings… Help!

Stub and HerbsJon over at Stub & Herbs is looking for some help from homebrewers to pair up with brewery reps to discuss beer styles and compare homebrewed and commercial versions of different styles of beer. Read on:

Stub and Herb’s is starting a monthly beer tasting and beer education in February. We are working on our schedule and could use some help. We would like to pair up a brewery rep and a member of the local homebrewing community at each meeting. We are hoping to pick a few different beer styles to discuss at each meeting and compare some homebrews vs some of the fine craft beers available at local bars and liquor stores. Anyone interested? Any homebrewers that want to get involved, please message me. The only requirements are:

*You have to have some beer for us to sample.

*You have to be willing to speak to a few of us about your homebrew techniques, recipes and setup.

Hope to hear from some of you.

Thanks,

Jon Landers
