Town Hall Beer Release: Chico’s Revenge

Another Monday beer release from Minneapolis Town Hall:

Hey kids,
Wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! Don’t eat too much turkey…

Beer release Monday (11/27) 5-6pm $2 pints of Chico’s Revenge Pale Ale. This beer offer a light, crisp malt character with a defined hop presence. This tastes splendidly of the Columbus hop with a mild bitterness. Josh’s first beer since he came back from the beer meca of Portland, OR. I think he learned something out west!

Another Friendly Winterfest Reminder

Fitger’s Beer Update

We’re always happy to hear of beer updates from our friends at Fitger’s Brewhouse:

Greetings,
Happy Holidays from all of us at the Brewhouse.
We apologize for the long gap in updates. I was in Bamburg, Germany doing lager beer reasearch. This spring you can come see if i learned anything,( we hope I did).

The new beers pouring as I write are as follows

Skyline IPA 7.9%
Skyline is an Imperial Pale Ale as opposed to an India Pale Ale. All our India’s are over 100 bittering units. Skyline is made totally from English malts and high alpha hops with a higher alcohol (7.9) and lower bu (88) then El Nino Ipa for example. The result is a somewhat balanced very drinkable big pale ale. Enjoy

Reisenbart Dunkelweizen 5.8%
Reisenbart means giant beard if you know us it is fitting. This is a German style amber hefeweizen. Note of chocolate and caramel blend with the traditional German wheat yeast flavors.

Brewhouse Nut Brown Ale 5.2%
Our version of a northern English nut brown. Slightly sweet malt with a chewy nutty flavor and a rich finish.

Blue Label Grand Reserve 9.0%
A sneak peak at our aging Belgian style dubbel abby.
Very limited release.

I will be back to the usual Monday/Tuesday updates and new releases next week.

It’s good to be back. I look forward to seeing many of you down at the bar over the holiday season. It’s been a great year. Thanks for everything.

Cheers
Dave

Town Hall Beer Release: Heather Ale

You know, I was just thinking that I don’t know anyone named Heather anymore, and then I remembered my friend in Duluth whose name just happens to be Heather. Heather brought us to the coolest Halloween Party ever a couple of years ago. Actually there were two parties… one with a 20+ foot bonfire, a witch on a zip line, a pig roast and some bands. The other party though smaller was just as cool… they had a keg of Summit EPA and Trampled by Turtles played in the garage. Duluth knows how to party.

But this is not about Duluth, nor is it about a woman named Heather. This post is about Minneapolis Town Hall‘s Heather Ale, scheduled to be released for the enjoyment of your bellies (and minds) on Monday, November 20th. Mike doesn’t come out and say it, but perhaps this beer will be released at 5pm with a discounted price on pints from 5-6pm. Perhaps not. I’ll see what I can find out…

Hey All,
Well we made you the Gobbler for your turkey dinner. Looks like you are going to drink all of that well before Turkey Day. Let’s try this…

Monday (11/20) we will release our Heather Ale, also a tremendous choice for your Thanksgiving meal. This is a Scottish style ale brewed traditionally without the use of hops. Scottish brewers back in the day often had no hops to use due to a short growing season and high cost of import. One ingredient that they did often use was the flower of the heather plant that grew on the hillsides of their native land. The result of this historical offering is a beer that has a spendid herbal/citrus character backed by rich Scottish malt flavors.

If I don’t see you, say hello to the family and enjoy your Thanksgiving.
Mike

Three Minnesota Listings on Beer Advocate’s Top 100 American Beers

I haven’t bothered to look at the rankings for a while, but I’m happy to report that Surly Bender and Furious (#76 & 92 respectively) have joined the ranks behind Town Hall’s beloved Masala Mama IPA (#7).

And speaking of Surly… just a reminder that there is a tour today at noon. You can also get your hands on growlers today. I’m tempted to go today, despite the fact that I’m currently job hunting and trying to maintain a budget. A growler of Darkness sounds quite tempting, and free tastings & tours are always a good time.

Anyway, regardless of whether or not I go, if you haven’t visited Surly, I recommend you do so today.
