This should make the ABR beer nerds sweat…

Okay, breathe in deeply… hold it… exhale slowly…

Friends (nerds?) in beer, here’s a first, likely thanks to our continued pleading over the past few years, here’s the Autumn Brew Review Program for 2007. Colin finished the program early this year so all of you can geek out and enjoy the information early.

Don’t forget, MNBeer and Twin Cities Imbiber will be sharing a table at Autumn Brew Review. MNBeer will have a little swag and a sign-up box for our new e-letter with a chance to win some t-shirts. Twin Cities Imbiber will have a special barrel-aged import beer for your tasting enjoyment. Jeff’s fairly sure that it’s never been poured in Minnesota. It’s not on the program, but I’m fairly sure you’ll enjoy it.

Enjoy the program… and no, I don’t know what Surly “Dahmer” is right now Dahmer is a smoked Baltic porter… hmm…

Brau Bros Update

Good things are brewing at Brau Bros….

Hello from Lucan,

First off, thanks for all the support! Our coolers are almost empty and we’re busting butts around here just to keep up.

I’m very excited to introduce the Single Batch Series of beers. These beers will literally be produced in as little as a single batch. However, despite the small production runs, they will see store shelves. I don’t want to do seasonals, if I want to make Wit in December or Imperial Stout in June, I reserve the right.

Our first release is a double nut braun ale called Ring Neck Braun Ale. It will be released on October 13, pheasant hunting opener. At over 6.5%ABV, it’s sizeable, dry and fruity with hints of almond and raspberry but dry like a walnut. Fun ale and perfect for late fall!

We are producing under 900 cases and 32 kegs for this initial ale. We are preselling this beer on a first-come first-serve basis. Over 70% is spoken for, so please contact us if you would like our reps to be extra pushy with your favorite retailer!

We are going to pour a single quarter barrel at the ABR, that will be the ONLY event it will be sampled at. I’ve got the next couple of Single Batch Series beers planned, but I’d love to hear suggestions or ideas.

As always, please don’t hesitate to call or email!

Tyranena Update: Twin Cities distribution, ABR

Some Minnesota-related news from our friends in Lake Mills, WI.

…Twin Cities Distribution To Occur Soon. If you have been waiting for our beer to make it up to the Twin Cities… you need wait no more. Alcorn Beverage, our Twin Cities distributor, picked up beer on Monday. Now you will just have to wait for them to start getting it out into the various liquor stores. And to kick off our distribution in the Twin Cities we will be attending the 7th Annual Autumn Beer Review.

We will be pouring Bitter Woman IPA, Rocky’s Revenge Bourbon Barrel-Aged Brown, Three Beaches Honey Blonde and rotating our remaining Brewers Gone Wild! series beers starting with Hop Wh0re Imperial IPA, The Devil Made Me Do It! Coffee Imperial Oatmeal Porter (sorry Mindy), and High-Class Broad Brandy Barrel-Aged Imperial Brown….

A couple of pieces of beer information not necessarily dealing with Minnesota breweries and brewpubs…

…I know… it happens. In any case, our friends across the border, Rush River, will be bottling their Amber and IPA soon… good stuff. Now if only their brewery was in Minnesota… 😉 Also, Tyranena will find it’s way into the Twin Cities soon. Thanks to Ben for the gentle reminder. Here ends the postings from WIBeer… we now return you to MNBeer.com

Brau Brothers Single Batch Series: Ring Neck Braun Ale

The first of Brau Brothers’ Single Batch Series, Ring Neck Braun Ale will be released on October 13th, to celebrate the opener of pheasant season – an important tradition in Southwest Minnesota. Brau Brothers will produce fewer than 1000 cases and will fill around 30 kegs. The idea behind the Single Batch Series is to emulate the Brau’s old days running a brewpub (The Brauhaus) where they were free to brew whatever they liked on any given day. Here is what Dustin calls the “fluffy description”:

Ring Neck Braun Ale is the initial offering in the Brau Single Batch Series of beers. A perfect autumn ale, this big double nut brown ale is dry and fruity, yet surprisingly drinkable. Nutty flavor is derived from both biscuit malt and toasted oats. A hint of raspberry and classic British hops round out this mild and complex brown ale.
