July 11, 2008[ July 16, 2008; 6:00 pm; ] Hrrm. Got a note from Corey at Hohensteins to let us know that on July 16th at 6pm at Grumpy’s Northeast Pat will be manning the grill and bearing muscles… er mussels. Mussels made with Brewery Ommegang’s Hennepin, in fact. Mussels are limited, (muscles, not so much), so arrive early.
July 10, 2008If anything, perhaps this is a reason to celebrate Mondays… cask beer. Here’s the details:
July 14th - Schell’s Firkin… (er Fass… I assume), 6pm until it’s gone
July 28th - Big Sky Firkin, 6pm until it’s gone
July 9, 2008[ September 12, 2008 to September 14, 2008. ] Inaugural Muddy Pig Belgian Beer Festival, “Slegg Verken” [Editor’s note: May I add that this looks like a very good time? Kudos to all of the breweries, brewpubs, bars, beer stores, homebrewers, beer lovers, etc. who have helped to push the envelope with beer in Minnesota! We’re in a good place right now! -ryan]
The first […]
July 3, 2008[ July 30, 2008; 7:00 pm; ] Join the gang at Stub & Herb’s at 7:00pm at Stub & Herb’s for another beer tasting. I was out of town for the Leinenkugel’s tasting, but every other one has been a lot of fun. $5 gets you some great samples of Summit, food and maybe more. I’ll see you there!
July 3, 2008This sounds good… $2.50 Summit taps all month long. Stub & Herb’s has Summit Extra Pale Ale and Oatmeal Stout on tap and will tap the ESB and Pilsener soon.
June 18, 2008[ June 24, 2008; 6:00 pm; ] Lanny dropped us a line to let us know that on Tuesday, from about 6:00pm until close, all Artisanal Imports beers (except DeuS) will be half off at The Bulldog on Lyndale. That’s Tripel Karmeliet, Kwak, Koningshoeven, St. Feuillien, Meantime, Grotten, and maybe even some Urthel. All half off. Go and enjoy some great […]
June 15, 2008[ June 28, 2008; 4:00 pm; ] Al is turning 40 in a couple of weeks, so to celebrate his official “over the hill” status, he’s throwing a party at The Blue Nile on Saturday, June 28th. Beer will flow. I promise. In fact, Al has provided a preliminary lineup:
4:00 pm Tyranena Dirty Old Man. (Whiskey Barrel Aged Imperial Rye Porter)
4:30 Cask […]
June 13, 2008“Beer flows at the Blue Nile” by Tom Horgen
One of his proudest moments was in 2002, when he took a perennial mainstream beer off the tap line: “I dropped Budweiser and replaced it with Maredsous, a Belgian Abbey beer. We got rid of the most ubiquitous beer in the world for a family-owned brewery.”
June 3, 2008[ June 5, 2008; 7:00 pm; ] Thanks for the e-mail, Tony! Head on over to Grumpy’s Northeast at 7:00pm on Thursday for an event with Two Brothers Brewing Company. It’s been billed as a “Meet and Eat.” They’ll have free Maxwell (Northeast 4th) street style Polish sausage and of course some Two Brothers beer.
Also, Tony mentioned that they just replaced all […]
May 23, 2008The people of the Star Trib and Mpls St. Paul magazine must have been doing some drinking lately and I mean that in a very complimentary way. As Ryan posted, the local microbrews were recognized in Thursday’s Taste section (with a nice color photo of Flat Earth’s bottles on the front page) and this […]
May 22, 2008[ June 9, 2008; 6:00 pm; ] The next “It’s Firkin Monday” at the Groveland Tap will be June 9th starting at 6pm. Nick Anderson will be on hand with a firkin of Rush River Unforgiven Amber.
May 22, 2008[ May 28, 2008; 7:00 pm; ] Join us at Stub & Herb’s once again for another Wednesday tasting! On Wednesday, May 28th, representatives from Ommegang will be on hand to talk about their beer and share some samples. $5. Every one of these events has been a great time. Cheers to Jon and the staff at Stub & Herb’s for doing […]
May 20, 2008I’m not ragging on Kieran’s or Brit’s, but I have to respectfully disagree with Citysearch - neither have the “best beer selection in the Twin Cities.” I’m not sure that either would make the top ten, and McCoy’s, The Lodge and Plums probably wouldn’t either.
So, that being said, what are your top ten beer spots […]
