As a former Austinite, I can vouch for Central Texas' efforts to bring the beer. There is a bunch of good stuff there if you are ever passing through: Real Ale Brewing Company, Live Oak Brewing Company, Independence Brewing Company, (512) Brewing Company... and a dozen or so places making houses beers - among my favorites: Lovejoy's Brewery & Taproom, The Draught House and NXNW (North by Northwest). St. Arnold's Brewing Company is great too... even though the brewery itself is in Houston (it's distributed throughout Texas, though). Then there's Lone Star - "the national beer of Texas." Not craft, by far, but great for the creek.
