I was under the impression that brewpubs could not fill growlers form other brewpubs. Is that correct? I just watched a local brewpub fill other brewpub's growlers and was very surprised. Which way is it?

No, Dirtyspeed is right. I've got an Ebay account all set up to sell Surly jugs, bring them on in so I can retire soon. Actually, we thought we'd store them in my garage and if Omar can get some legislator to change the law on growlers, sell them back to him to resell back to you. Oh wait, they "know nothing" about any legislator & changes to the growler law.

Actually, Ryan's story is more boring but also more accurate. We think we make good beer & a lot of people have empty dusty jugs. Just call us matchmakers.

Yeah, better save those empty Surly growlers. I'm sure when you retire you can cash it out and live off the profit, since it is so valuable.

I wouldn't read too much into it... the guys at Vine Park are just trying to get some exposure for their beer, not a nefarious plan to re-sell empties on eBay. They're looking to get people to try their beer by trading one of their growlers for a growler that you can't otherwise have refilled in Minnesota.

I'm sure some people see the value of a Surly growler as a potential collector's item and other probably see it as an empty growler that can't be refilled.

Sounds like a real crappy deal to me. Give up one of my Surly growlers for ones that costs around 3 bucks? And yet I had about 3 people offer to buy mine from me for up to 20 bucks and I heard more. What is Vine Park going to do with a bunch of old Surly growlers is the big question.

Wonder if they could just put their own stickers over them like Barley John's use to do if you had a growler from someone else.
