16 Grit is out!

For those of you hoping to pick up a growler of Surly’s 16 Grit DIPA, you’ll have to find a friend who has one because they are out of growlers of it.

Anyone wanting to get their $3 per growler deposit back will need to return the growlers to the brewery by December 31st.

bummer. I was on my way over during lunch. Man that sold fast.

I’ve never bought a Surly growler before, but I stopped by on Saturday and picked one up.

While it’s an OK beer, it really wasn’t worth the time I had to spend in line to purchase the growler and then the time I had to spend in line to pick up the growler after I paid.

    Many people bought multiple growlers.

The wait was more than an hour.

Which “friend” out there wants to trade me a couple growlers?

What do people think of 16 Grti? I find the candy sweetness overwhelming.

Shoot, I’d almost trade a bottle of Darkness for a growler of 16 Grit. Almost. :)

I know that was a senseless post. But I AM thinking about it… :D

I would trade a bottle of darkness for 16 Grit

16 Grit is much better than Darkness.

What do they mean by “We lost a couple barrels to dry hopping.” ?

  9. Dirtyspeed wrote on December 29th, 2008 at 3:38 pm:

    Wait, I get it.

We were filling these growlers from the tank where the second dry-hopping took place, carefully racking the beer off the top of the compacted hops.So when we started pulling hops along with the beer we stopped filling growlers.
It was a 30BBL batch, not a 30BBL yield.Every step(Whirpool,Transfer,Dryhopx2) there is loss,it’s part of the process, next time(?) the goal will be to minimize the losses based on this experience.

    HTH

If anyone has an empty Surly growler they’re willing to sell, please let me know. I keep waiting for one to surface on eBay but no luck yet. Will pay handsomely. Thanks!

This sucks I was going to go at 10 today, figuring it wouldn’t be out yet. I just got back in town at 7pm yesterday, so no chance for me.
Oh well, maybe they will try it again, sounds like there is a demand for it.

If anyone wants to try some 16 Grit that missed it, I will be pouring samples from a few of my growlers tonight, Tuesday, at the Blue Nile.

Nice Al (very generous of you), but of course I can’t make it tonight either, guess it wasn’t meant to be.

If it didnt take me two hours to get home from work, i probaby would try and go to da Nile for 16 grit, but im guessing I would lose my sanity somewhere along the way.

From Omar: “How ironic. Our last day of growler sales and I find out Rep. Nelson has Introduced a bill to increase the growler limit. Go Surly Nation!”
