Hmm, $45 for 3 hours vs. $25 for 5 hours at ABR. I’ve never been to Winterfest before – is it worth the increased price? I’m figuring there’s something extra special there to warrant the extra twenty bucks.
I think its mainly because a lot of the brews are higher ABV.
And the band, and the nibbles they provide.
And the smaller crowd and more intimate setting. I’ve always found it to be worth the price. Many will complain and say it’s not but I’ve never felt cheated.
“Nibbles” is probably an understatement. Last year, which was my first year going, I thought the spread was quite impressive and could have served as a meal, especially if you got to it early.
Building and room rental is higher than an outdoor event. Plus there have been some event exclusive beers poured at past festivals that is worth the extra.
I highly endorse Winterfest. Worth every penny!
Eric: The previous year had a much better food spread with wait staff coming around and offering you all kinds stuff like stuffed mushrooms, etc. Maybe we got spoiled with that but the food this previous year was one complaint I heard from a lot of people.
That’s funny! Man, I might’ve spent as much time at the spread as in line! We are truly spoiled in Minnesota.

My biggest complaint about Winterfest has been the food or, rather, my not getting any. The last time I went (a couple years ago), almost all the food was gone by the time I got to the food table. Everyone in front of me pigged out as if it was an all-you-can eat buffet. Luckily, I was expecting that and had brought snacks to help soak up the high-potency brews.
There’s still been plenty of food 2 hours in the last couple years. How late did you hit the food table? It wasn’t til the last 30 minutes or so this last year that it was dwindling. At that point it’s time to think about just going somewhere like Great Waters for a bite afterwards instead.
Anyone else have problems getting through on the UptownTix website or on the phone to buy tickets today? Not sure what happened…maybe it was more traffic than they were prepared to handle.
