Another little note from Corey:

Bulldog Lowertown is opening tonight (Wed Oct. 29) @ 4pm. 40 draft lines filled with local craft, craft, & import beer. A bottle list of 60 beers, & different flights you can purchase. Yes I repeat they have local beer on tap. Surly,Flat Earth, Summit.

Yes, local beer on tap. I can dig that!

Nice to see a Bulldog location finally put on some local stuff (other then Summit). I hope they’ve finally gotten over their issues with local brewers.

I hope that is true. About f*@king time.

I checked it out last night. I had a Meantime IPA and a Bell’s Best Brown (I’ll get MN brews next time, I swear), as well as a bleu cheese burger. All were tasty. The place was packed, but the service was still good. Even Mayor Coleman showed up. Well done Bulldog!

This is exactly what St. Paul needs. More reasonably priced places to eat. St. Paul is filled will high price places but no one goes to St. Paul for those kinda place, they goto Minneapolis for that stuff.

I go to St Paul for those kind of places. I guess Im no one.

Meh. I do both in Saint Paul. Hurray for me. I’M SO DANG LOCAL.

More important, Bulldog is almost exactly the distance from my house as Obb’s. Booya and Rush River in one direction, tasty burgers and Summit/Surly/Flat Earth in the other. Excellent.

    http://www.thebulldogsaintpaul.com, by the way.

And since when did Wolverhampton start exporting Coniston’s Bluebird Bitter? It must be mine.

Congrats, one of the truly most stupid comments I may have ever read.

The Bluebird has been around for years in the bottle. This is the first Ive seen it on draft though.

Sorry, Duke, that’s what I meant.

I’m excited to have a place like the Bulldog in Downtown Saint Paul but…

I was there Wednesday and then again today and had Bluebird Bitter, Meantime IPA, Oxfordshire Bitter, and Entire Butte Porter, all served in a smallish stemmed Belgian style glass. These are all low gravity English ales and should be served in a English style pint glass, or at least the standard American “pint” glass. Both days I asked the staff about this and they said basically “I just do what they tell me”. One even confided that he thought it was all wrong too.

I was willing to accept this on their opening night – the place was crazy. But today??? No way! A beer bar should know better than this.

Mark, those beers are serrved in a smaller style glass for pricing reasons. Otherrwise they are extremely expensive by the pint.

I got my Meantime and Bluebird by the pint on Saturday. Nice place, I really liked the beer flights.

    Duke, you’re still a nobody.

Yeah, I know. I love you!

I’m serving the Entire Butt in pints, but it’s way too cheap at $8. Should be $10.
That’s why they’re doing a small pour for whatever, so you don’t throw a fit at $10. Funny you can get away with near $10 for a small pour of Belgian beer at some places, but expensive English ales “need to be” in pints, no matter how much the cost.
