Green Mill to stop brewing at Grand Ave location?

Date March 26, 2008, 05:56pm

In part, edbeered posted this over at BeerAdvocate today:

…I went to Green Mill Brewing today and was informed by the bartender that they are no longer brewing at that location. He stated that they were looking to start a brewery that would serve all the Green Mill restaurants. He went on to say that they were going to expand the bar where the brew kettles are now, and all I could think was “what a waste”…

Anyone have more info to share, please do.

I hadn’t heard the part about starting a production brewery, but they have ceased brewing on Grand. Welcome to brewing in Minnesota.

    Best of luck to Ron!

A couple of years ago I was all concerned because I heard Green Mill was going to cease brewing. When I asked the bartender about it, she informed they would continue brewing but they were going to add additional guest beers to their selection because they surveyed their customers who mostly wanted more mainstream beer. This sounds like the culmination of events that began awhile ago.

You know, Kris and I went to the Green Mill in Eagan the other night and they only had one of their own beers on tap. That was a little surprising/disappointing.

That sucks, I hate to see microbreweries close or stop brewing. They actually had a couple decent beers too.

I enjoyed the porter and the pale as well as some of the seasonals.

Mag - I didn’t know that any of the other Green Mills had a house beer on… what was it?

I’m completely speculating, but it probably wasn’t an actual Green Mill beer. It was probably brewed by Leinie’s or something for Green Mill.

jf, that could be the case. The server said it was one of their own, but that doesn’t mean it was. Ryan…hmm…I don’t recall exactly (it was a lager).

AFAIK the “newer” chain Green Mills have had someone contract some beers for them for quite a while,it used to be made by some micro in Iowa
