Buster’s on 28th

Has anyone checked out Buster’s on 28th yet? They’ve been open for a very short time, but it sounds like a visit might be worthwhile. Their website* has a listing of their draft beers and the list is pretty nice - locals beers include Flat Earth, Summit ESB and EPA, Surly Furious as well as some tasty beer from the rest of the world including Delerium Tremens, Ommegang Hennepin, Rush River Bubblejack, Paulaner Hefe, etc. Their bottle collection looks good too… I believe it may be time for an adventure…

I went there on opening night and took some photos. A lot of the beers we wanted they didn’t have yet and it was abnormally hot inside.
It was a bit humorous on their beer menu in a couple places where they’d list the brewery as the beer but not indicate which beer from that brewery it was.
That and their weird naming bit: “Buster’s on 28th Street” when it’s actually on 28th Avenue.
We had a good time there, but it is hard to judge a place on their first day open so I’ll be visiting back in a couple weeks after they iron out some of the kinks.
They have what looks like a tasty menu. So far, I’ve tried the Juicy Lucy which turned out to NOT be a Lucy, but a delicious cheeseburger, so I’m not complaining.
They have a Beer & Wine license, so no hard drinks, which should be a fine fit for the MNBeer crowd.
Their name and site design have a few quirks. Their logo says they’re on 28th St, but they’re on 28th Ave, the address in the footer corrects for this. And then there’s the stout shot. Perhaps they need a South Minneapolis consultant and a beer consultant to help iron things out?

It could be the 1554 in that pilsner glass.
Although I don’t know if I’d serve a schwartzbier in a pilsner glass either.
I do not really care. I am just excited to have a reasonably priced place with a good beer selection in my neighborhood. I hope it lasts.
I was hoping it was Mönchshof Schwarzbier.

Regarding the 28th Avenue/Street conversation, Mark Stier from Buster’s writes:

I am betting with a certain amount of confidence that this is because the line is rotating different beers from that brewery. I know for a fact Chisago Lakes pimps draft Avery quite a bit and sometimes they just rotate through them. The Happy Gnome does a similar thing.
PS: Buster’s has a common owner with The Happy Gnome.
I went last night and was impressed. I have to repeat my pleasure at having a good beer bar within walking distance of my house! Hooray. The prices seemed very good too.
Busters is YUMMY! They are working the kinks out and each time I go it gets better and better. I’ve gone 4 times (since it’s in my ‘hood) and I’ve tried the walleye, pulled pork, juicy and Roma pizza. All delicious. The beers are top notch and so is the service. Good luck, Busters! I went last night with my wife and really liked the tap selection. It is in my hood as well, which I really enjoy… I liked their comments on Miller Lite, “tastes like Miller Lite”
Any place with lots of Beer choices is a place I will frequent.
We both had Burgers, which were very tasty. Service was a little slow and they seem disoriented still, but I think those problems will be corrected in time.
