Flat Earth Curly Tail Ale | MNBeer - Beer from the Twin Cities, Minnesota, Minneapolis, St. Paul and beyond

Flat Earth Curly Tail Ale

…just think… at the Metrodome you actually have to look around a bit to find a decent beer. This shouldn’t be the case at the Saints’ stadium as Flat Earth’s new beer, Curly Tail Ale, should be conveniently located for your drinking pleasure.

Our new beer, Curly Tail Ale is available only at Midway Stadium, home of the St. Paul Saints. The first kegs arrived at the stadium this afternoon. Curly Tail Ale is an ordinary bitter, don’t be afraid of the word bitter. This beer is slightly sweet and smooth, with a touch of chocolate in the after taste. We used Golden Promise malt, medium and dark crystal malt, chocolate malt and brown sugar. It is hopped with three addition of UK Fuggles. Get out to the ball park and watch some outdoor baseball and grab a pint, available at the third base concession area.

Cheers,

Jeff Williamson

It’s not really Freudian, but maybe a Brewer’s Slip? :

    “consession area.”

I haven’t been to Midway for ages . . . but might have to now!

    Is it 3.2 beer?

I’ll be there tailgating on Thursday with the guys from the Minnesota Home Brewers Association. Should be a ton of fun.

I just hope it’s there tonight. There was none to be had last night at Midway. Most disappointing!!

Look for it at the pizza shack behind the third base bleachers. Thats where its supposed to be. I will be there for all 3 weekend games I will be looking for it.

Grabbed a glass last night. Not bad stuff. Like he said “an ordinary bitter”.

The Curly Tail Ale is located in the concession area behind the FIRST BASE LINE, not the third base line. I went Friday and could not find it, but I went again last night and did some additional searching. It was pretty tasty.

Also, I think most large public events serve 3.2 beer (metrodome, midway, state fair, etc.) Anyone have confirmation on this?

Curly Tail is also available behind the third base bleachers at the pizza shack. Its not marked very well so you have to look for it. I also talked with some members of the Saints and they said the first batch of Curly tail was more bitter than the brewers expected. The second batch will be less bitter Im told. Its good stuff though as it is.

Talked to Jeff this past weeked in Stillwater and the beer had to be 3.2 because that is the license that the Saints have for serving beer.

I’ve liked all three of the beers I’ve had from him so far. I’d much rather drink a Curly Tail than a Miller Lite that’s for sure!
