Whit?

Recent beer history buffs, lend me your ears… Jim wrote to us asking about a locally produced beer that went by the name Whit. He says that he remembers first trying it around 15 years ago at a food and/or beer fest in the upstairs area of Bandana Square. I’m fairly sure the only beers I’d tried at that time could be purchased in gas stations, so I’m no help. Anyone?

And just so we’re clear, the beer wasn’t simply a wit/witbier, but an actual beer with the name of “Whit.”

Old timers?

I say “old timer” only because I was trying to get guys your age to buy me shit like Busch or Meister Brau at Stop N Go fifteen years ago.

the logo from that link Dave gave looks a lot like the logo of Ommegang’s Witte…any connection, or is that just me?

Wow. That’s VERY similar… likely the same font, hard edged drop shadow… hmmm.

You know, something about Wit! kept ringing a warning bell in my head, and then I remembered–Spring Street was the first company to offer an IPO on the internet…and ending up screwing a lot of people.
